Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Against a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the original Toy Story movie debuted, launching the animation giant as a major animation studio and introducing viewers to iconic figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared this week, providing a glimpse into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.
Bonnie's New Toy: A Digital Device Spooks the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies Woody, Buzz, and the crew. Bonnie gets her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Presumably, the frog-shaped tablet will animate just like the rest of her playthings. However, the characters appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it probably is.
The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is why Woody is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The end of Toy Story 4 saw him embark on a fresh journey with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a fair and helping giveaway items find good homes.
Certainly, Pixar will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him appear in Bonnie's room unexpectedly is a little strange, though. It also raises questions whether his partner will have come back with Woody. And where is Duke Caboom (the star)?
Continuity from the Last Installment
At the very least, some aspects are continuing from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (the voice actor), entrusting her as the leader of the toy domain. The clip displays the badge pinned to her outfit.
Hopefully she is remains the driving force among the toys.
