Thousands Experiencing Power in South-East Queensland and Victorian Regions Following Severe Storms
Approximately 25,000 residences in south-east Queensland were left lacking electricity on Monday's dawn after powerful weather events passed over the state, generating powerful gusts reaching over 100 km/h.
Massive Hailstones and Broad Damage
Homeowners observed large ice chunks as large as seven centimeters in some areas. Weather authorities verified that various areas across Queensland had been hit with large hailstones.

Emergency crews were working to restore energy supply throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews deployed to manage the numerous electricity disruptions.
Southern State's Climate Difficulties
At the same time, nearly 1,000 households in Victoria also faced electricity disruptions after the capital city recorded its heaviest rainfall in a year and a half.
State Emergency Services received 598 calls for help across the state, mostly for property damage but also for downed trees and water accumulation.

At the height on the previous day, over 28k power users in the state were experiencing outages.
Weather Forecast
Damp conditions were forecast to persist along much of eastern Queensland this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to attract humidity against the coastal areas.
The following day was predicted as the most rainy day, with persistent thunderstorm potential predicted across multiple regions of both areas.

Public health experts warned that there was an higher risk of weather-related respiratory issues across the countryside regions, especially given the existing atmospheric conditions.
