Local Law Enforcement
Around fifty vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm police.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Officers state they were notified during the night on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued liquid.
The fluid had been placed in the form of a Nazi symbol, they reported.
Law enforcement then located multiple other smeared cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Officials report initial examinations show the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no clue as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in relation with the event," they added.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the mystery" and have asked to the community for information.
A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism left him speechless and needed to be resolved quickly.
"This act hits the center of Hanau and revives the pain of the far-right attack five years ago," he stated on a platform, referring to the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at residents of immigrant origin in 2020.
